European Commission Passes Rewe Case Back To Domestic Authorities

The European Commission has passed control of Rewe's acquisition of Tengelmann's Plus stores in the Czech Republic back to the local Competition Authority. German retailer Rewe reached an agreement with Tengelmann to buy its 146-strong Czech store network in March 2008, but has been waiting for the green light to move forward with its acquisition plan. This move by the European Commission is a positive sign that the deal will move forward as planned.
