Retaliatory Trade Ban Placed On Russian Imports

The ongoing trade dispute between Turkey and Russia has recently escalated, with Turkey imposing curbs on Russian imports in retaliation for Russia's June import ban on certain Turkish foods. Russia hit Turkey with a ban on fruit and vegetable imports, claiming pesticide levels were above acceptable limits; this came as a harsh blow to the country's agricultural sector. Turkey insists that the ban has nothing to do with the quality of its exports but rather is politically motivated, and has therefore moved to subject Russian goods entering Turkey to the same detailed inspections that Turkish goods are facing at Russian
