Chilean Retailers Interested In Olimpica

Two Chilean retailers are reportedly considering a bid for Olimpica SA, Colombia's third largest supermarket group. The speculation surrounds Cencosud and Falabella, both of which have already successfully expanded outside of their domestic market. However, in Colombia the firms would be up against tough local opposition in the form of Carrefour, the world's second largest retail group, and Almacenes Exito, which is controlled by French retail giant Casino.
