Jerónimo Martins Seals Plus Deal

Portuguese mass grocery retail (MGR) operator Jerónimo Martins announced that it has closed on the acquisition of Tengelmann's Plus discount chain in Poland. The deal was concluded after it received approval from the country's competition authorities. Antitrust regulators gave the green light for the transaction on the condition that Jerónimo Martins dispose of 25 Plus outlets and 13 of its own Biedronka discount stores. The deal, which was agreed upon last December, is worth EUR320mn (US$469.3mn) and includes both the Polish and Portuguese Plus store networks.
