Jordan Searches For Wheat
September 2008 | Industry NewsJordan is set to receive 2,000 tonnes of enhanced wheat seeds from Syria and Yemen, due to diminishing crop yields this season leading many farmers not to save for the following season. Muzahim Muhaisin, the Minister of Agriculture, said that the majority of the required quantity will be provided by the aforementioned countries. The remainder will come from local cereal markets, where farmers will be paid above market prices for their crops as an incentive to overproduce.
