Sales Up Amid Share Sell Off

Slovenian mass grocery retail (MGR) operator Mercator has reported a slight 1% rise in net profit for the first nine months of the year to EUR36.4mn (US$52.3mn). Group net sales were up 13% to EUR2bn (US$2.8bn) driven by international sales which rose by 34%, while domestic sales increased by a more modest 5%. Looking forward to the last quarter of the year, Mercator has said that it is looking to improve profit margins in this time of slowing consumption.
