The African Beer Industry: Reason To Be Bullish?
December 2008 | Company Finance AlertSABMiller has blamed deteriorating economic conditions for a 1% fall in beer volumes in South Africa, its core market, for the six months to September 30 2008. However, it remains bullish about its growth potential in the rest of Africa after beer volumes rose by 11%. Over the next five years, it is expected that SABMiller and its competitors will accelerate their efforts to service a bourgeoning middle-class, which has led to rising disposable incomes in Africa and has fuelled demand for mass-produced beer.
