Mega Image Seals La Fourmi Deal

Belgian mass grocery retail (MGR) operator Delhaize Group has completed its acquisition of the domestic La Fourmi chain, through its fully owned local subsidiary Mega Image in a deal worth EUR18.6mn (US$28.9mn). Majority owned by Greek private equity fund Global Finance, La Fourmi operates a chain of 14 supermarkets in the capital Bucharest. With this acquisition Mega Image has been able to significantly increase its store network from the 24 stores it previously owned, 21 of which are located in the capital, with another two in Constanta and one in Ploiesti.
