Carrefour Takeover Prompts M&A Law Revision
September 2008 | Industry NewsFrench retail giant Carrefour's January acquisition of a 75% stake in Indonesia's third largest retailer, PT Alfa Retailindo, has prompted the country's Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) to amend its retail mergers and acquisitions guidelines. The US$71mn acquisition is currently the subject of a KPPU investigation into alleged unfair practices by the French firm, the as yet unstated content of which has led the competition commission to introduce a ruling requiring retailers to submit pre-notification of planned mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
