Wal-Mart Expresses Interest In Peru
August 2008 | Company News AlertPeru's minister for Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mercedes Aráoz, has revealed that Wal-Mart has expressed an interest in opening stores in the country. The minister has disclosed that she met with Wal-Mart representatives at the Americas Competiveness Forum held in Atlanta and that the firm expressed an interest in investing the country's supermarket sector. Although Wal-Mart has responded by saying it has no concrete plans to enter any Latin American country, BMI believes that the immature Peruvian retail could well be attractive to the US-based retail
