Heineken Lining Up For A World Cup Strike
January 2009 | Company News AlertHeineken has announced that it expects its South African brewery to be ready by the end of 2009, in time for the country's hosting of the 2010 World Cup. The brewer announced last March that the production facility would be located in the Sedibeng district, south of Johannesburg. It will cost an estimated US$375mn and allow Heineken to challenge SABMiller, the market leader, on its home turf. South Africa had a per capita beer consumption of 57 litres in 2007 and beer accounts for 47.30% of the domestic alcoholic beverage market.
