Kompania Piwowarska Posts Strong Volumes

SABMiller's Polish subsidiary Kompania Piwowarska has posted year-on-year (y-o-y) sales growth of 6.2% for 2008. The brewer is the largest player in the Polish alcoholic drinks market and according to company figures has a market share of around 42.1%. BMI regards the Polish beer industry as one of Central and Eastern Europe's (CEE) most dynamic owing to its ingrained beer culture, large population and rapid economic growth over recent years. Despite Piwowarska posting strong results in 2008, a year the Polish economy managed robust growth of 5.4%, we caution that beer sales are unlikely to be as dynamic
