Lidl To Open First Swiss Stores In March 2009

After several false starts German-based discount chain Lidl has announced it will open its first stores in Switzerland in March 2009. The firm will initially open 13 stores in seven cantons but previous reports have suggested the firm has around 50 construction projects underway to cater for stores and distribution facilities. Lidl's move into Switzerland follows in the footsteps of arch-rival Aldi which entered in 2005 and now operates around 58 stores.
