Barry Callebaut Offloads Consumer Products Business To Natra
March 2009 | Company News AlertBusiness-to-business chocolate supplier Barry Callebaut has agreed to offload Stollwerck, its European consumer chocolate business, to Spain based Natra in exchange for a minority stake in the newly enlarged business. The deal comes 15 months after the firm sold its US private label chocolate business Brach and signals the end of Barry Callebaut's venture into consumer products. In both the US and Europe Barry Callebaut struggled to build a position in the consumer chocolate market in the face of fierce competition and this divestiture should allow the firm to focus on its core business-to-business
