Al Islami Signs Retail Agreement

Leading Middle East based Halal food processor Al Islami Foods has penned an agreement with Sharjah Co-operative Society, a mass grocery retailer (MGR) based in the Emirati of Sharjah. The deal will allow Al Islami to open meat shops at the retailer's stores. Undeterred by the sharp fallout in the UAE's economic outlook, the company has stated that it plans to double its meat shop presence to twenty-two in 2009 - a move BMI agrees with; in our opinion, the country's food industry remains relatively well insulated from the economic crisis.
