German States Ban Red Bull Cola

Six German states have instructed retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola, produced by Austria-based Red Bull, after a test conducted by authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia found the drink contained a trace amount of cocaine. A spokesman for the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer ministry suggested that he expects other German states to follow suit, but Red Bull has responded by suggesting that the coca leaf is approved worldwide as flavouring and that its own tests had found no cocaine traces.
