Government Says Domestic Sugar consumption Is Falling

The state-run Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has revealed that a marked reduction in domestic sugar consumption has rendered it unlikely that Pakistan will have to look across its borders to procure sugar for the remainder of 2009. Falling production in the 2008/09 season had led many on the ground in Pakistan to forecast a full-year deficit.
