Delhaize Exits Germany To Focus On Other European Markets
July 2009 | Company News AlertBelgium-based supermarket operator Delhaize Group has announced it is to sell its four German stores to locally-based Rewe. Delhaize entered the German market in 2003 as a test and in 2008 the unit generated revenues of EUR19.5mn alongside a small operating loss. Its decision to exit the market came after an evaluation of its portfolio, with the firm revealing it will now focus on operations it believes offer better growth
