SABMiller To Increase Capacity Eightfold By 2010

July 2009 | Company News Alert

With Nigeria's beer industry emerging as possibly Africa's most promising, SABMiller has announced plans to build on its belated entrance by pursuing an eightfold capacity increase programme through to 2010. The brewer made a low-key entrance in May 2009 by acquiring Pabod Breweries, a 30,000 hectolitre capacity regional brewer. SABMiller plans to increase Pabod's capacity to about 250,000 hectolitres by February 2010. In reaction to SABMiller's expansionary announcement, BMI has pushed up its beer sales forecasts slightly - through to 2013, we now see beer volume sales increasing by 16.3% to reach 1,536mn hectolitres and value sales increasing by 35.8%
