Cencosud Expands In Peru

Chilean retail group Cencosud has continued to expand in the promising Peruvian market with the opening of seven new hypermarkets under its popular Wong banner. The expansion includes an extra large store in the capital of Lima and six stores located outside of the capital. The 13,000m2 Lima-based store is significantly larger than existing Wong Metro hypermarkets, which come in at around 10,000m2. Commenting on the opening, General Manager of Wong Supermarkets Juan Manuel Parada said 'the new store is large and modern, it is positioned to revolutionise the retail sector in Peru'.
