SABMiller Secures Diageo Injunction

Alcoholic drinks giants Diageo and SABMiller have entered into a dispute in the promising Tanzanian beer market. SABMiller, the majority equity holder of the country's dominant brewer, Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), is reportedly seeking a court injunction against Diageo's regional subsidiary, East African Breweries Limited (EABL), to prevent it from leaving a joint venture agreed in 2002 and acquiring TBL's main rival Serengeti Breweries. (Diageo is currently in the process of acquiring a major stake in the brewer.)
