Trade Between Venezuela, Colombia Impacted By Political Dispute

Relations between Venezuela and Colombia are continuing to deteriorate with the Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez threatening to sever all relations after Colombia granted the US military increased access to military bases in the country. In response Colombia has filed a formal complaint with the Organisation of American States (OAS), accusing the country of interfering in Colombian affairs. The dispute has already impacted on trade between the two countries and with the rhetoric becoming more acrimonious, the situation looks likely to have an ever increasing impact on the region's food and drink
