Coca-Cola Bottler Shuts Down Country's Last Concentrate Plant

Frustrated with Nigeria's notoriously poor regulatory environment, Coca-Cola bottler Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) has shut down its inefficient Ogun-state soft drinks concentrate plant and shifted production offshore. Previously serving as a regional hub for the supply of concentrates, Coca-Cola Hellenic (CCH)-owned NBC and regional bottlers formally dependant on the Ogun plant will now source concentrate from Swaziland. BMI believes that NBC's decision reflects a worrying wider trend.
