Coca-Cola Shuts Down Construction Of US$120mn Plant

Emerging Europe-focused Coca-Cola anchor bottler Coca-Cola Hellenic (CCH) has halted construction of its new US$120mn plant in southern Russia until 2010. Initially expected to have come on line in 2008, the latest delay is believed to be the result of infrastructural holdbacks. Although not directly linked to regulatory issues, the difficulty CCH is encountering in getting its new plant operational underscores the mercurial nature of the Russian market.
