Innocent Reports Drop In Sales And Pre-Tax Loss

UK-based smoothie maker Innocent Drinks has reported a drop in sales and a pre-tax loss for 2008 due to tougher trading conditions. Sales in the 12 months to December 31 2008 fell by 12% to GBP98.9mn, while it made a pre-tax loss of GBP11.2mn, compared to a profit of GBP12mn for the previous year. The firm was hit by increased competition and declining demand for smoothies as consumers cut back on discretionary spending.
