Almarai Thinking Big In Egypt
November 2009 | Company News AlertHaving spent big in 2009, the ambitious Saudi dairy giant Almarai is showing little sign of letting up. According to a report in the Al Madina newspaper that quotes Almarai executive Hatim Saleh, the firm has set its sights on taking a 50% share of the promising Egyptian dairy market by 2013. In BMI's opinion this would open up a whole host of volume opportunities, particularly given Almarai's overreliance on the wealthy but low-volume Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region (see chart).
