'Turkish Aldi' BİM Third Quarter Earnings More Than Double

Building on the momentum generated in a dynamic first half of 2009 (the six months through to June 30), Turkey's leading discount retailer, BİM Birlesik Magazalar A.S, has reported stellar third quarter results as ongoing consumer thriftiness supported the outperforming discount segment. A Q3 sales increase of 22% year-ony-ear (y-o-y) to TRY1.4bn (EUR634mn) was impressive, but a 122% y-o-y earnings uptick to TRY55.7mn was the quarter's highlight. In H109, the company registered a 24% y-o-y increase in sales and 57% y-o-y strengthening in headline earnings.
