In another responsive display of commitment to its emerging market (EM) operations, French retail giant Carrefour has announced plans to double its Malaysian hypermarket network in 2010. Following closely behind its departure from Russia, just one month after entering the country, its forced sale of a recently acquired Indonesian subsidiary and dogged rumours that major shareholders want it to shed some of its EM operations, the announcement firmly states Carrefour's intention to continue to invest in its EM
