Scotch Whisky Sales Demonstrate Resilience In First Nine Months Of 2009
December 2009 | Industry Trend AnalysisThe Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) has reported that during the first nine months of 2009 exports of Scotch whisky increased by 1.5% in volume terms to reach 807mn bottles, compared with a decline in export volumes of 5% during 2008. Sales on a value basis declined by 3.5% to GBP2.11bn, however, the first decline for several years. This decline in value suggests that producers may have cut prices to boost exports following a difficult 2008 and that lower priced varieties may have gained market
