MPs Recommend Minimum Alcohol Pricing
January 2010 | Industry NewsA report from the UK's House of Commons Health Select Committee suggests that a minimum price for alcohol could save lives and encourage responsible drinking. The MPs that make up the committee suggested that the drinks industry has too much influence on government policy and that 'a rise in the price of alcohol was the most effective way of reducing consumption'. Minimum pricing legislation is clearly likely to have an impact on the revenues of manufacturers and the report has been largely disputed by the country's drink
