Asda Reveals New Focus On Smaller Outlets As Sales Growth Slows
February 2010 | Company News AlertUK retailer Asda, a subsidiary of US retail giant Wal-Mart, has posted slower sales growth for the final quarter of 2009. In the three months to the end of December, Asda's like-for-like sales increased by 4.6%, down from 5.6% in the previous quarter and well below the firm's average level of growth over the last two years. This meant Asda performed better than Sainsbury's, which registered like-for-like growth of 3.8% over a similar period, but means it underperformed upmarket retailer Waitrose, which enjoyed growth of 9%.
