Nestlé Cautiously Optimistic For 2010 Following Sales Slowdown In 2009

Swiss food giant Nestlé has reported what it describes as 'market-beating' growth for 2009 and said that it expects to achieve higher organic growth in 2010. During 2009 Nestlé registered organic sales growth of 4.1% while the company's own measure of real-internal growth, which strips out price rises and is a proxy for organic volume growth, came in at 1.9%. Chief Executive Paul Bulke has expressed 'responsible optimism' for the rest of 2010, suggesting that despite the economic uncertainties the core food and beverage business would deliver higher organic growth for the year and that the company would also increase
