Bimbo Boosts Sales With US Bread Buy

Mexican bread maker Grupo Bimbo has reported rising sales and earnings for Q409 on the back of acquisitions. In the three months ending in December 2009, Bimbo's net sales were up by 35.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) to MXN30.1bn, while net income climbed by 38.5% y-o-y to MXN1.76bn (UD$137mn). During the quarter, Bimbo's Mexico sales came in flat at MXN14.3bn. However, its US sales more than doubled to reach MXN12.6bn. These two markets account for 90% of the company's sales.
