Aldi Launches In Texas

German discount retailer Aldi plans to open 27 stores in north Texas over the next three months. This is the first stage of a US$150mn programme of investment in the state, with the firm also spending US$50m to build 46,450m2 (500,000 square feet) distribution centre in Denton County. This launch in Texas is part of an aggressive programme of expansion across the US and means that Aldi will have stores in 31 US states. Aldi's low-cost business model has allowed it to capitalise on the economic downturn and American consumers are now much more accepting of its no-frills
