Craft Beer Sales Up In 2009
March 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisAgainst a difficult economic backdrop US-based craft beer producer the Boston Beer Company has reported an increase in revenues for 2009. In the 12 months to the end of December, Boston Beer's net sales increased by 4% to US$453.4mn. This growth was entirely attributable to price rises as the firm's volumes for the year declined by 1%. However, the advance in revenues was still well ahead of the results posted by the country's leading brewers, Anheuser-Busch InBev and MillerCoors, which have both posted sharp sales contractions for 2009.
