Nespresso Posts Sales Growth But Faces New Challenge As Rivals Develop Compatible Capsules

Coffee capsule maker Nestlé Nespresso, a division of Swiss food giant Nestlé, has posted buoyant results for 2009, shrugging off the downturn to record sales growth of 22%. Sales came in at CHF2.77bn and while the pace of expansion was slower than 2008, when the division recorded revenue growth of 33%, the result underlines the strength of the brand and the growing popularity of the Nespresso system.
