Marfrig Posts Record Revenues But Feels Impact From Global Downturn

Brazilian meat processing firm Marfrig has reported surging revenues and a return to profitability for 2009. In the 12 months to the end of December the firm registered a 55% increase in net sales to BRL9.61bn on the back of acquisitions and organic expansion. Net income came in at BRL679mn, which compared to a net loss of BRL35.5mn in the previous year, when the firm was impacted by foreign exchange losses.
