SABMiller Regional Growth Story Not All About Beer

While beer is rightly taking the plaudits for SABMiller's bourgeoning African growth story, BMI points out that soft drinks, despite slipping under the radar to a large extent, are also contributing sharply as the continent's consumer base starts to really show its cards. In the six months to September 30 2009, soft drinks contributed 33.8% to consolidated Africa-region volume sales (beer supplied 50.5%). In South Africa (categorised separately), soft drinks' contribution was similarly strong at 36.6%.
