Foster's Group Demerger: BMI Expects Strong Competition For Beer Business

Long bogged down by an underperforming wine business, Australian beverage major Foster's Group has concluded its strategic view by deciding to completely demerge its beer and wine businesses. Buoyed by the news, shares in Foster's jumped 7.4% on May 26 to close at AUD5.60 (US$4.78). The development has reignited speculation concerning the future of both businesses.
