Marfrig Pursues Further International Diversification To Build Scale And Reduce Risk

Brazilian meat producer Marfrig has continued to diversify internationally with the purchase of Northern Irish poultry processor O'Kane Poultry. The GBP13mn (US$18.6mn) acquisition is being made through the firm's Moy Park arm and includes capacity to process 120,000 chickens and 5,000 turkeys per day. This international diversification helps the firm mitigate the risks of being too reliant on a single sector, while also increases its access to the lucrative European market.
