Aryzta Focuses On the Long Term With Strategic Acquisitions

Switzerland-based bakery group Aryzta has announced the purchase of two businesses in the US for a combined total of US$1.08bn. The firm will pay US$900mn to take control of Fresh Start Bakeries, which supplies the quick service restaurant segment and will pay US$180mn to gain ownership of Great Kitchens, a producer of pizzas and appetisers for North American retailers. The firm has said that the acquisitions will double its manufacturing volumes and expand its customer base.
