Higher Export Figures Highlight Wheat Sector Recovery
June 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisLatest figures from Argentina's Agriculture Ministry confirm BMI's belief that the country's wheat sector will see sufficient production to allow at least 3mn tonnes of wheat exports in 2010/11. Recent measures, agreed upon by government officials and industry leaders, have supported a wheat production recovery after droughts sent output plummeting in 2008/09. Although Argentine wheat exports have fallen in recent years due to attempts to safeguard domestic supplies and market controls, we believe export totals will return to previous highs and production will slowly move back to pre-drought levels.
