Bluetongue Brewery: A Steady But Unspectacular Addition For SABMiller

Looking to exploit per capita beer consumption of an enormous 104.7 litres annually, the local joint venture (JV) of Anglo South African brewing major SABMiller has commenced operations at its first Australian brewery. Having been present in the market since 2006, through the Pacific Beverages JV with soft beverage major Coca-Cola Amatil, a manufacturing footprint should help cut supply chain costs. However, BMI would caution that while high Australian beer consumption makes the market a positive addition to SABMiller's portfolio, market maturity, fierce competition and the risk of short-term economic weakness mean that the joint venture's ambition for the market
