Government Owned Brewer BIP To Boost Output

State-owned Serbian brewer BIP will reportedly increase its annual output by close to 80% to 500,000 hectolitres as part of efforts to lure a strategic investor. Like most of the Balkan region, Serbia's beer industry has been hit badly by the global financial meltdown with beer sales slumping in 2009. Ongoing sluggishness in discretionary spending suggests that beer consumption will remain weak through 2010 with consumers continuing to exercise caution.
