Asahi Retakes The Lead Amid Further Domestic Market Weakness
July 2010 | Company Finance AlertJapanese brewer Asahi Breweries salvaged its position as the largest domestic producer of beer and beer-like beverages in sales volumes in Japan in H110. The brewer surpassed its major rival Kirin Brewery who held this highly sought-after position in H109, controlling 37.5% of the market at that time. With a market share of 37.1% in the period January to June 2010, Asahi overtook Kirin, who only managed to secure 36.4% of the domestic beer and beer-like drinks market. In third place came Suntory with a share of 13.4%. Sapporo Breweries managed to obtain 12.3% of the market
