BMI Sees Strong Growth In Peru Retail As Cencosud Invests

Chilean retail group Cencosud has announced plans to invest US$230mn in Peru in 2010. Cencosud will use the capital to open 10 new supermarkets and the investment is to be focused in the country's northern and southern regions, underlining the huge potential for growth in retail outside the capital Lima. The investment accounts for over a quarter of the firm's total expansion budget for 2010, highlighting its bullish sentiment towards Peru.
