Embotelladora Andina Results Highlight Argentina Weakness, Brazil Strength

The latest results posted by Chilean soft drink producer Embotelladora Andina highlight the disparity in growth between Argentina, where the economy is struggling to shake off the after effects of the global downturn, and its regional neighbours Chile and Brazil, where economic growth has bounced back much more rapidly. Andina reported that in the second quarter of 2010 its soft drink volume sales advanced by 5.1% in Brazil, 4.9% in Chile but declined by 2.4% in Argentina. This is in line with the results posted by Chilean brewer Compañía Cervecerías Unidas (CCU) and highlights the current weakness of the consumer
