Coopers Expansion At Odds With Beer Market Outlook
August 2010 | Company Finance AlertOn the back of fairly flat volume sales growth over the last decade, BMI expects Australian beer sales in volume terms to increase by an average of just 0.5% annually to 2014. Such a forecast, informed by market maturity and expectations of economic cooling in the short term, seems at odds with Australian boutique brewer Coopers Brewery's announcement of plans to ramp up production capacity by 50% in H210. A craft brewer, Coopers will benefit from the continued shift towards consumption of boutique, premium beers in Australia. However, the brewer will have to make major inroads into its rivals' market
