Silk Set To Target Consumer-Side Buys With EUR100mn Fund

Traditionally preferring to hone in on commodity-focused companies where returns have been greater historically, consumer-side investment interest in Sub-Saharan Africa's food industry has lagged behind. Yet, driven by strong industry growth and increasingly robust disposable income momentum across the region, the status quo is finally about to alter. UK-based asset management company Silk Invest is expected to launch a private equity fund worth EUR100mn in 2010 targeting consumer-side equity investments across the region (excluding agriculture).
