Wine Demand Resilient As Sector Registers Growth
August 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisAccording to the latest industry figures from the Beverage Information Group, the US wine industry is proving to be particularly resilient in the face of the economic slowdown and low consumer confidence. In its recently released 2010 Wine Handbook the association reports that wine sales in volume terms rose by 0.8% in2009 to reach 297mn 9-litre cases. However, the economic slowdown did impact on the type of wine purchased, with sales of domestic wine increasing by 1.8% to 22.7mn cases and sales of imported wine dropping by 2.2% to 74.3mn
